Eurovision & Stuff
# 21 May 2006 21:53

Yup yup, so it was teh Eurovision Song Contest yesterday and I watched it a bit. Yeah, I know it's kinda sad, but I think it's funny, what with Terry Wogan's commentary about the predictable voting of certain countries...

The contest was the usual mix of bizarre, awful, and catchy tunes, and was won by Finland this year who quite unexpectedly entered a 'rock horror' band called Lordi, who sang about the coming of the Arockalypse and the Day of Rockening. It was quite a spectacular performance with a lot of pyrotechnics and such. Definitely worthy of the win.

Russia's Dima Bilan came second and was pretty good too, I thought.

The others were pretty "meh" really. Can't really remember most of them, oh except the German entry which made us joke about the American-ness of it. Seriously it was an American-style country song by Texas Lightning. Crazy stuff.

The voting was pretty predictable as usual, with the Scandinavian countries voting for eachother and the former Yugoslavian countries voting for eachother, and Cyprus giving Greece 12 points. lol, politics eh? Just can't escape it.

Otherwise not much going on. Watched half of Brokeback Mountain, lol I had to put subtitles on for a bit cos the accents were causing me to roll it back a bit at times, haha. Updated the site history page of the site, and thought about starting the section about me and friends and stuff...
Hmm, thats about it really.

Catch you laters
