Mad House
# 26 August 2003 14:24

The house is a bit crazy at the moment, because my mum and sisters are still down in Bournemouth... Also my dad just can't shop, so the fridge is practically empty, lol.

heh, he left an egg custard on its own, and it was just screaming "eat me" so I did. *cackles*

Uhh... This is basically a post of boredom... *sigh*

Salvadore Dali
# 24 August 2003 19:26

Just got back from my weekend at my Aunt's house in Southbourne. Was good fun, we went down on the Friday, it's a 2.5-3 hour long journey, so my dad brought some cassettes to listen to - "The Best Punk Album in the World Ever!" Hehe, haven't heard that one for a while... tis good.

Anyways, on the Saturday we went into Bournemouth itself. It was packed, and that Darius was playing live, so Jennifer wanted to go see that, so she went down to the pier with my mum and other sister while me and my dad went looking through shops for random stuff.
We also went looking for a hotel to stay in when we go down again in February for my Aunt's wedding. We were given details that my grandparents got from the internet of a good-priced guest house nearby, so we drive down to find it, and the bloody thing wasn't there! It'd been knocked down and had flats built on the site. So obviously we couldn't stay there, lol.
Later that night we all had an Indian takeaway with all various stuff. It was our treat to my Aunt and future Uncle for having us down there. We're always having Indian food at home, and an Indian restaurant is always the first thing my dad looks for when we are on holiday (you don't know how long we searched for one in Orlando last year *rolls eyes* ). Anyways, that was nice. Probably better than the one we usually have at home. Afterwards we were playing a game called "Blind Ignorance" where there was a pack of cards with famous names on them, and that was stuck to a players head so that they couldn't see it, then they have to ask the other players questions to find out who they are. My Aunt was saying about half of them she doesn't know about, and picked an example - Salvadore Dali. Of course, the first round Salvadore Dali was picked so we changed that one for Noddy. Then it was my dads go, and he randomly picked Salvadore Dali out of the pack. We think he's just going to haunt us forever now, lol.
Other funny moments were when it took Stuart forever to get Felicity Kendall - he knew who it was, he just couldn't remember the name. My sister was Adolf Hitler, and she asked "Does it begin with a D?" Well, of course it begins "AD" so that sent us off into fits of laughter aswell. And then when we chose Mr Spock for my dad, who is a bit of a Star Trek fan was the best. After a while he knew who he was supposed to be, but he wouldn't say it because we didn't answer the questions right... Well we aren't all Trekkies, are we?
Needless to say we'd all (most of us) been drinking... I had two pints of Boddingtons and a bottle and a half of white wine.

This morning was a fairly normal Sunday morning, except that we weren't at home. Watched the F1 Grand Prix, same as usual. Had dinner same time as usual. Then me and my dad came home, while my mum and sisters are staying down there for the rest of the week.
We have work to go to :(

A Grand Day Out
# 21 August 2003 17:54

No, not the Wallace & Gromit animation... Me and my family went to Warwick Castle today. Damn, I haven't had so much fun since our holiday in Florida last August!

Before that though, my sister had to stop off at school to find out her GCSE results. She did pretty well... Way better than I did... Anyway, so we got up to the Castle and the it was a 20 minute walk from the car park before we got to the entrance. It was really cool. I like historical type things, but this was fun as well! The castle dates from 1086 and was used right up until the mid-1970's.
There were minstrels playing 14th century music and a ghost tour, which was hilarious. Also you could walk up on the ramparts and the tops of the tall towers, except my dad was too chicken to look over the edge, lol.
Inside they had different walks for different times. On the ground floor it was medieval, the first floor was 17-18th Century, and the second floor was 1898.
There was also a small dungeon and torture chamber. Pod would like that. :D

Altogether very cool! :D

My sister had a friend round last night, and they rented Parappa the Rappa 2 from the video store... Damn that games addictive, lol.

Anyways, I finally did it. For years I've been wanting to try a new hairstyle and I actually did it today... I've never had hair so short, and it is still just an average length! And it doesn't poke my eyes out any more! Yay!

I also got my webcam working again, so don't miss this rare opportunity to see your favourite evil Emperor!

Good and Bad
# 18 August 2003 12:26

Good:
There is a dentist in the town that is accepting NHS patients! Yay!
Now that should save me a bit of money. My current dentist switched over to being for private patients only at the beginning of the year, so now I am paying a yearly fee just for having a dentist. We're going to swap over to the NHS one, because then we only need to pay a lower rate, and only for treatment. So it's all good.

Bad:
We realised my dad's Curriculum Vitae ("Resume" in America) was lost when my old harddrive died. So now he's making me type it up from a copy he had printed out... *sigh*
Here goes...

# 14 August 2003 21:18

Just got in after a visit round to my aunts house.
It was my youngest cousin's 2nd birthday, so we went round and were suprised to see my two oldest cousins there aswell. We haven't seen them around for a while, because of a few incidents which I won't go into. Ian was there with his fiancee, Claire, and his son Josh. My grandad was obviously trying to ignore the presence of Simon, as he is the root of a lot of family problems. Personally I was glad to see them again, it felt like old times to me, and I look forward to seeing them at Ian's wedding in September.

In the car on the way home, as I suspected they would, my family started talking about the doubts over whether Josh is actually Ian's son. Personally my opinion on this is that if both Ian and Claire are happy that Josh is his then is it really anyone elses business? Is it just me that feels this way?

Training Again
# 13 August 2003 17:06

Been training a new person again. This time though, the new guy picked everything up easy enough, and I spent the whole shift with him going over all the proceedures and everything, and did a couple of OCLs.
Also, this time we were on the front counter, which I hate... But I think I did okay. At the end of the shift he shook my hand and thanked me for helping him on his first day. Now I've never heard of that happening before. Must mean I'm such a damn good trainer ;)

Trainees
# 11 August 2003 16:57

Argh... We had a new girl starting today and I had to train her on grill-side. She was just doing dressings, I was on buns (and in charge of the grill team), and there was another person who started a month or so ago working the grill.
It's bad enough trying to explain something to someone who has never done it before... But I had to keep my eye on the guy who was supposed to know what he was doing aswell, because he kept messing up. I've been in worse situations though, before I was on the training team...
The new girl had to go home early because she was sick anyway, lol.

So I get home to have a nice cup of coffee to keep me awake, and the milk had gone off, so I had to wait until my mum got back with some shopping... Grrr...

Oh, Just an afterthought, 'twas 101 F down in Kent yesterday. And that is the hottest it has ever got in Britain since records began in 1875. Coolness.
Or hotness, anyway...

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
# 10 August 2003 15:10

Our fridge broke! ARGH!

Luckily we still have our old one... The broken one is only 6 years old, and it's a fridge and freezer, but the freezer part works fine. So we just got out the old fridge which we normally only use when we have extra stuff in, like more food, drink or beer when we have a load of visitors coming round. It's over 20 years old and still works. lol.

It's really annoying though, because we can't afford a new one right now. Since my dad lost his job last year everything started breaking. We've had to replace the tumble dryer, kettle, washing machine, television, cooker, and now the fridge too. But it looks like we'll have to make do with what we got right now.
My dad is stuck in a low-paying job right now just so we can afford to keep the house, but he has an application in for a design job with some company in Gloucester. I dunno what it is designing, but I do know it isn't what he did before.

I hope he gets it...

# 09 August 2003 00:10

Discovered the wonders of formatting the layout of a website using CSS instead of HTML. I basically designed the whole layout of the site in a fraction of the time and a fraction of the code.
Also, I got my alternate stylesheet switcher working. I was having problems, until I realised that the script was case-sensitive, and added in my Caps. Then it worked fine, in all it's stylish cookieness glory.

Also, I heard about this craze thats growing currently, "flash mobbing" ( http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/3136873.stm ). Looks cool in a crazy kinda way.
If anyone's organizing one in my area then I might have to show up. Not like I have anything better to do, lol.

Found my wallet... In a place that I'd looked three times already... I hate it when that happens.
'tis just as well I found it, because I got a driving lesson later and I need to be able to pay for it.

Arghness
# 03 August 2003 01:23

Well today has just been brilliant... Well yesterday really, seeing as it's 2.15am... But anyways: First off, I was on a 4-11 at work. I hate evening shifts because I spend all day thinking about going to work. Then when I get there I'm on Window 3 with a new girl, it probably would have been alright if I was actually on window 3 a lot, and knew what was going on. We were also vastly understaffed later, so we were just waiting on most of the food and orders were takeing forever to get taken out - resulting in a lot of customers being annoyed at me.
Then, while the managers were sorting out stuff for the close and cashing up, I was the most senior non-manager on the front, which meant I was in charge of the front... Which isn't easy when the other people were a bunch of twats who didn't give a shit, and wouldn't listen to half of what I said unless it was convenient for them.
Then I realise I've also lost my wallet. Just perfect... I know it's at home somewhere...
