out & hahaha! # 29 June 2006 18:52
At work... Shelley: Dan, can you put four pies down. Me: Watch how you put them in though, they got stuck together last time. Dan: Oh were they a bit gay? Me: Yup. They were so gay I had to throw two of them away.
Yeah, so I told Dan at work I'm gay. Obviously up intil now I have attempted to be careful not to mention it in my blog, but I really can't be bothered any more. I'm gay; so what? Now, watch my parents find my blog. Hahaha... That wouldn't be funny too much. Never mind. lol
Yeah so me and Dan were joking most of the day about it, cos I had said that I find it high-larious when people joke about gayness. Dunno why, but there you go.
Also that day... Dan: You know, Ben was saying the other day that you must be gay, and I was like 'Naaah, not Andy Beard!' Kieran: Oh, they're not calling you gay are they? Me: Yeah, I know. It's terrible the things I have to put up with here.
So funny... Anyways I managed to get a replacement for my phone so thats all good now. Still feeling a bit crappy though but I'll live, lol.
Talk to ye alls later. :) xx

So my grandad called, and apparently the hospital guys reckon that it wasnt' a heart attack, but they are keeping her in overnight and stuff, so yeah. Hopefully she'll be out and all better soon. :)
Take care. xx
hmm # 19:41
Well i was happy to finally get a day off tomorrow after a nice 8 days in a row again, and i get home from my 12-7 and my mum tells me that my nan is in hospital with a suspected heart attack... so, yeah. that sucks abit. hmm. :(
Open, and coffeeeeeee! # 14 June 2006 20:20
So, I still haven't had a coffee since Friday... and you don't know how much I am craving some right now... Geez. it's terrible, all I can think about is coffee. Yikes.
So anyways, twas my open this morning and I got there at 5.55am and Ad was already there, having arrived early (on his day off) because there was some problem with the drains overnight. But yeah, anyways.
Funniest moment ever... I'll post a transcript-type thing, cos it's easier... Sue is Drive Thru order-taker, Matt and Jane are on front and handing out Drive Thru orders, I'm in kitchen with Ricky.
*A woman orders a Bagel and a coffee in Drive Thru and goes to the window to collect* SUE (shouts really loud): She's has the jam for the bagel! MATT (to JANE): I dare you to ask her if she's given out the jam. JANE (shouts): Sue, have you given her the jam? SUE (shouts): Yes! *pause* Jane, she's had the jam! ME (to RICKY, but loud): Ricky, can you go ask Sue if she handed out the jam? MATT (shouts): Sue, can you give out the jam please? WOMAN (laughing): I don't even want the jam! *everyone cracks up, and Jane hands the lady her coffee. The lady drives off without her bagle! A few minutes later she comes back* WOMAN (still laughing): I forgot my bagel, didn't I? MATT: I've got it here; I've put the jam in the bag.
Teehee... We were also trying to get Mike to order some 'E'-size bags (really huge paper bags, like the size of bag you see in movies when Americans get their groceries). But he wouldn't. :(
I want coffee. :/

Internet, beer, and Royal Mail, err, Postal Service... # 09 June 2006 01:20
It's hot and there are no soft drinks I like. What else am I supposed to drink, water? Pfft

So, I FINALLY had a day off work. YAY! Unfortunatly I had a dentist appointment, so I had to get up for to throw that £15 down the metaphorical drain, and I think that cut from the other day has gotten infected or something as it's looking kinda 'eww', but anyways. After that I dropped Jenn off at her friend Aron's house, and then went for some shopping. :D
Got a couple of t-shirts and things from Matalan, couldn't find any trainers I wanted though, might go back into Kidder tomorrows. As usual I popped into GameStation to see what delights they had there, and bought the DVD Gladiator in a By One Get One Free deal, and for my BOGOF I chose... The NES version of Jurassic Park! XD Yeah, I don't have a NES, but I'm sure someone from either JPdatabase or JPLegacy would be looking for it. If not I can just eBay it... Or buy a NES!!! hehe.
After GameStation I headed over to Game. ZOMG, I forgot to go into WHSmith's Books. Ah well, nevermind. Anywas yeah I went into Game and there was this crazy guy in their rambling on about nothing in particular to the two obviously thrilled store people there. hehe, I got Rise of Nations and Fable for PC... Yes I know I should be saving money. But omg I just can't help it. :O Laters on I was randomly searching MySpace for local peoples and I found the profile of the guy who served me at Game, which was quite freaky. So we were chatting for a bit.
And tonight I downloaded an album of this nice little band called The Postal Service. Good stuff. IMO :)
I'm trying to get Paradigm up and running again, after Chickenman came up to me the other day with an idea of turning it into an RP. I was trying to set the server up, but because I had recently changed some settings it didn't want to work. Then yesterday I finally get it up and running, and my hosts server decided it wants to have a drive failure and kills my site. Typical. So I wait til tonight and reset it up again, but due to the restore there were some database errors that took a while to iron out. So hopefully some time when Chickenman is online again we an get going at last.
I'm gonna go work on it now actually. ^_^ TTYLS! x
"It could only happen on an Andy Beard close!"? # 07 June 2006 01:07
Well, so I'm not superstitious or anything, and I'm sure I can't even speel it, but some of you may remember me saying a week or so ago about 06/06/06, where me and Ad, the Store Manager were sitting in the office and he said "I wonder who's shift is on 06/06/06. I bet that's gonna be fun. It's prolly mine." and I said "No, it'll be mine cos that's just my luck." And it turned out that it was his open and my close. SOOOO, the story begins...
I get to work at about quarter to 2, cos we had a managers meeting at 2pm. I already knew I was one crew member down, so I got there early so I could do my floor plan to make sure I was alright for crew anyways. And I was, it looked like. So we go for the meeting and learn about all sorts of wonderful promotions that are going to be a major pain in the arse in summer, then near the end of the meeting Ad goes, "oh by the way Danny is sick". I'm like "OMG" but decide I'll sort it out laters, cos monday night was fairly quiet anyways. And then Mike (Supervisory type person above the Store Manager) goes "Oh, I need you to detail clean the RollerGrill toniught too, cos it looks a bit crappy." So I like basically say I will, although without much enthusiasm.
So the shift starts off... Most of my people don't start til 5, and I manage to call one person in extra to help out til 11. We were getting pretty busy, but we were coping alright. The real fun stuff all happens later...
About 9pm we usually skim all the tills and take them all back down to the £50 float that it started off at, basically cos if you're gonna get robbed it'll be late at night usually, cos there are less people about. But anyways, I don't do that, cos by this time everyone is running around like headless chickens. cos by this time we have had a couple people go home cos their shift was over (and they had stopped over anyways).
I blagged Josh to stay til 12, he should have gone at 10. So... about quarter past 10 I go to the "corral" (it's basically a shed in the yard, lol. Silly name, yeah) to count the toys, and I hear this load crashing sound from the kitchen. And think "There goes the dive (washing up) all over the floor." And pay no mind, it happens more often than is funny; it's just a pain cos you have to wash it all again. But then I hear Brett calling me a few times. So I head back inside to see what happened...
The UHC is a big heated holding cabinet where we hold cooked chicken products that haven't been assembled into burgers or boxed into sets of nuggets or whatever. It sits on top of a trolly-like thing and is about 5ft 9in tall altogether, and 3ft square. It had fallen over. A wheel had snapped off when someone tried to move it over so they could sweep under it. Not only had it fallen over and a wheel fell off; but it had hit the chicken-side dressing table and the weight of it had caused a wheel to snap off that, too. Not only had the UHC lost a wheel, fallen over, and broken the chicken-side dressing table, but the chicken-side dressing table is where we put things after we have washed, before they get put away properly. So the aforementioned clean stuff was now all over the floor, scattered around the collapsed UHC and everything that was on the shelf underneath the UHC itself.
So yeah, walk into the kitchen to be confronted by Josh going "it was an accident!" Brett had a face like "OMFG!?" and Mitch had apparently just been running around in circles, with a similar expression of "OMFG!"
So we set about getting the UHC back upright, it had unplugged itself when it fell, so I said to just leave it off. There was a rack for pairs of tongs to hang on which was now as flat as something quite flat, and a couple of the tongs were bust anyways. We straightened that all out though. Meanwhile the chicken-side table was looking decidedly precarious, so I unplugged the RollerGrill which sits on top of it (the RollerGrill is kinda like one of those George Foreman thingies) and moved it somewhere safer. Unfortunatly this meant there was nowhere to plug it in, and it would cool down too much for me to clean it. Never mind, eh?
After that disaster we manage to make it to 11pm so I can close. YAY! Unfortunatly nobody knew how to do the shake machine or coffee machine so I had to start them off before doing my managers stuff. I ended up doing the inventory after midnight, lol. We got out at about quarter to two. Which is quite a late one, really. It's not the best close either, but I only had myself, one experienced crew member, and one newbie on the close.
Oh I missed something, I had been debating with myself whether to call Ad, and let him know about hte UHC, seeing as he might wonder why everything was wonky when he got in in the morning, as he is on the open again. And he said--and this is the REAL freaky part--that Mike was bringing in two new wheels for the UHC in the morning anyway. We knew it was wonky, I had noticed it on a close with the infamous Charlie about a year ago or more, and she had once said, "You can just gaurantee that if it ever falls over it'll be on our shift", Charlie had left though, so she missed it, and I was here to see it. craziness.
So yeah. Nice shift. It was one of those things where you just HAVE to laugh, cos there is nothing else you can do really. :P Hopefully it won't decide to fall over in the night or anything. Fingers crossed...
'til next time! x Labels: it could only happen on an Andy Beard close, work
bleeding to death # 03 June 2006 00:15
Well okay not quite "to death", but yeah I managed to find a sharp edge on the inside of one of the chillers at work. Quite annoyngly it slices a little chunk out of my finger that giving me a little flap of skin and a wound that insisted on continuing to bleed. Hurt like hell, so I grabbed a couple of plasters out the office and went down to backroom. Got the dive moved out the way so I didn't bleed all over it, cos that wouldn't be very hygienic, lol... And this cut wouldn't stop. So I went and sat in the office for about 10 mins with my arm in the air, and eventually Nicky, the other Shift Manager (we usually have 2 Shift Managers on a weekend nights), she came in and managed to get a plaster on my finger, and put a bandage over it to keep the pressure on. So it was alright after that. Didn't go around bleeding everywhere anyways.
So, laters after I finished I kicked the boy racers off the carpark, but they were still hanging around by the garage so I drove off a bit then called the police on them. :P
So I have to go pick my sister up from Bewdley, and while I'm waiting for her I take the bandages off and it seemed alrighty anyways. My sister didn't seem to be able to see where I was waiting for her, despite the fact that I was right next to where she could see... "I can see HSBC, and the museum..." "I'm literally across the road from there!" "Well I can't see you." "Well walk down here then!" Geez... sisters, eh? lol
When I got home I had a closer inspection of my battlewound, and it seems it is actually still trying to bleed, so I have stuck a couple fresh plasters on it.
So yeah, that is my amazing story for the day. Whoo.
