One of Europe's top animal behavior experts, Rhys is currently proud to be a lecturer on animal behaviour for Cardiff University's zoology undergraduate course in his home country of Wales.

In 1995 he was in a plane crash when a private jet hired by the BBC for a documentary studying the animals of Africa crashed into a rainforest. Using their survival skills and working together, the entire team was able to survive for a week while awaiting rescue.

When news of Isla Sorna broke in 1997, Rhys was eager to document the behaviours of these newly rediscovered animals. In 1999, he attempted to organise an expedition to the island, but found himself repeatedly blocked from hiring experts he wanted for the trip by large corporations such as National Geographic.

In 2001, he was hired by a consortium consisting of inGen and nature experts to investigate Isla Sorna...
